Summertime in Metro Detroit means the return of our favorite festivals and fairs! There’s nothing quite like strolling around over a couple of days to check out wonderful local artists, musicians, vendors, food, and more. Be sure to mark your calendars for these not-to-be-missed festivals and fairs returning to the area this July! 

Plymouth Art in the Park

July 7-9, 2023

In its more than 43-year history Art In The Park has grown to be the second-largest art fair in Michigan. Held every year in July, this 3-day event assembles over 400 artists from all over the country who display their work to nearly 300,000 attendees. There is a ton to see and do over the three days including music, activities for kids, and theater shows. Art In The Park is Michigan’s 2nd largest art fair. It is directed and managed by Raychel Rork. Rork’s mother was the original founder and director in 1980.  Dianne Quinn, reflects on the event, “I feel very fortunate to have successfully stumbled into one of the greatest occupations, and that my daughter chose to work with me, making it OUR event!  I am proud of what this brings to Plymouth.  I take great pleasure in being able to bring a creative experience to all who attend, volunteer, and participate in the show.”

Wyandotte Street Art Fair

July 12-15, 2023

The Wyandotte Street Art Fair brings in over 200,000 visitors, 200 fine artists, 25 restaurants, and a multitude of local merchants. As one of the largest art fairs in the State of Michigan, the fair attracts fine artists from across the state, region, and nation to showcase their work. The Wyandotte Street Art Fair is great for all ages and features crafts, a wide variety of art in different mediums, plus all the fair food you could ever want. 

Ann Arbor Art Fair

July 20-22, 2023

The Ann Arbor Art Fair is actually three independently juried, nonprofit art fairs that run concurrently: Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original; Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair; and Ann Arbor State Street Art Fair. The Ann Arbor Art Fair is the largest juried art fair in the nation, featuring nearly 1,000 artists, draws close to a half million attendees, and spans 30 city blocks in downtown Ann Arbor. The fair also features entertainment, art activities, and plenty of food. 

Concert of Colors

July 19-23, 2023

Concert of Colors is a family-friendly, diversity-themed music festival that takes place both indoors and outdoors at the Detroit Institute of Arts and other cultural institutions. Entering its 31st year, the Concert of Colors is proud to bring a diverse lineup of concerts as well as art activities, forums, discussions, and film screenings. 

Uncle Sam Jam

July 6-9, 2023

The Uncle Sam Jam in Woodhaven returns this year for four days of carnival attractions, family fun, and free concerts. The festival also includes a corn hole tournament, monster truck rides, a classic car show, and fireworks on Friday night.

Detroit Festival of Books

July 16, 2023

If you are a book lover, you have to make the time to check out the Detroit Festival of Books. Held each year in Shed 5 of Eastern Market, Detroit Festival Books is committed to promoting the joy of reading and the rich culture surrounding it. Admission to the festival is free and you’ll enjoy spending hours wandering through the many vendors’ shelves and cases of books. There will also be live music and plenty of food throughout the festival.
